PROJECT 4A: Sculpture (Multiview)

FLOWS OF IDEA

When i heard the word sustainable, directly I thought of mother nature.Therefore I had a rough idea of what my sculpture should be that is taking the shape of tree.While for the colour I had used is blue for my sculpture as the blue colour represent the colour of water and sky. Without water or air in the sky surely there is no chance for us to live as well as living things such as tree.Honestly due to lack of time and having a so so drawing skill , this assignment give me a slap and make me headache as i need to consider not only how my sculpure should looks like yet i need to be able to produce the blueprint of it in the next assignment that is 4B. Therefore after think deeply i decided to use rectangular based shape as my sculpture main shape.

The Starts

 Firstly I cut out four Z-shapes from the coloured paper as well as the mounting board.

After that I glue the mounting board with the dark blue coloured transparent paper then continue by glue the Z-shaped coloured paper on the Z-shaped mounting board.Those things represent the branch of my tree sculpture.

After that, I had form the rectangular shape to represent the trunk of my tree sculpture.Then I mark the distance between the branch so that they look systematic(picture on the left) and then I glue the four Z-shaped paper on the rectangular(piture on the right)

And This is the Sculpture that I made.As you can see there is a kind of paper I used that having many lines of bump on it cover the top surface of my whole sculpture.This is because I want to create a sculpture that when rain falls on it , it will create a fountain liked effect that is spreding the water around but unfortunely it cant be done practically as it is paper based material sculpture except the sculpture is made from material that able to resist water,so I just kind of imagine the flow of water from the top of the sculpture to the ground and create the image of tree;Therefore this sculpture will function as a view when it is sunny day and will have another kind of view (tree liked shape) when there is heavy raining day.Besides that, by having the dark blue transparent paper under the Z-shaped 'roof', it will add some lighting effect on the sculpture especially when night there is light source shine on the sculpture, the transparent material will reflect the light and create a different feel of sight compare to sunny day and raining day.
